Conan the Barbarian will be among the films that will be featured at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2011, held July 21-24. Rose herself will be making an appearance on Saturday. Be sure to check it out if you’re in the area – and report back to us!
SATURDAY, JULY 23
- WHAT: Meet Conan star Rose McGowan!
- WHERE: Dark Horse Booth #2615
- WHEN: 2:00 – 3:00pm
McGowaniacs have been speculating over Rose’s next project after she tweeted that she was working in Vancouver, BC and posted a photo of herself wearing a wedding dress earlier this month. Now details have emerged that McGowan is currently filming a TV movie titled The Pastor’s Wife, in which Rose plays a real-life woman named Mary Winkler. The real Winkler was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the 2006 shooting death of her husband, Matthew Winkler, the pulpit minister at the Fourth Street Church of Christ in the small town of Selmer, Tennessee. Michael Shanks (Stargate SG-1) plays Matthew Winkler in the movie. Says Shanks:
“Doing a TV movie with Rose McGowan (Conan the Barbarian, Charmed) called The Pastor’s Wife. Based on a book, true life story etc.. I play pastor Matthew Winkler. Rose will play my character’s wife, Mary Winkler. If you read about the story, the synopsis becomes self evident.”
The film began production on July 11, based out of 1950 Franklin Street Vancouver, home of Front Street Pictures.
Sounds like an intriguing project! Many thanks to maxpower03 for the detective work. Further details on the case and the real Mary Winkler are available on Wikipedia.

Rose McGowan is featured inside Blackbook‘s July issue (with Nicholas Hoult on the cover.) The piece is a two page feature, a stunning photo and article about Rose’s current playlist where she reveals little bits of herself with each song. Really interesting and especially if you are curious about Rose listens too! We will try to get a larger version soon but enjoy these nonetheless. Thanks to the lovely Laura for scans!

A UK trailer for Conan has been released. Watch it in our media archives.
Speaking of videos, our McGowan Media section is still acting a bit wonky. We’re not entirely sure of the issue but the quality of videos might not be of past quality and we’d like to apologize. We’re hoping to have it fixed soon.
