Project Spotlight

Dawn (2014, short drama)
Directed by Rose McGowan
Starring Tara Barr, Reiley McClendon and Hannah Marks

"Dawn is really about what we do to young girls unwittingly, and how we send them out into the world completely unprotected, in a way that has, at times, really tragic consequences. Being polite at the risk of your own internal voice of danger being silenced is a pretty dangerous thing."

Laura, also known as RoseRocks, has been with us since day one. She is our much valued and loyal site contributor and also now our forum and Facebook page admin. Today, in honor of the Rose McGowan Birthday Week, Laura talks about her favorite Rose McGowan performance, that of Moira Kennedy in a little gem of a movie called Strange Hearts.

Choosing my favorite Rose movie is a pretty tough choice and when it comes to decide who is my favorite character Rose has played, well, it’s a tie between Cherry Darling, Courtney Shane and Moira Kennedy. I love all these characters but there’s something captivating about Moira, after watching all the Rose movies through the last ten years, I still feel like Moira has a special place in my heart.

Moira is a thousand things, all very different, she’s an amount of depth, pain and glamour. And I truly think only Rose could portray all those things so perfectly.

There are so many reasons why I love Moira; she has charm and subtle beauty. She is pretty much battered, but constantly trying everything to keep her head above water. She’s always hiding behind different characters, always changing wigs, outfits and make-up but probably just trying to figure out who she really is and what she really wants in life. Even tho she gets hurt quite easily by certain situations, she never surrenders.

In today’s update for the Rose McGowan Birthday Week, the newest addition to the team, Dale McCarthy, speaks about his most beloved Rose McGowan movie: Scream and the character of Tatum Riley.

In addition to Dale’s lovely write-up, we have replaced the 720p resolution Blu-ray captures of Scream with 1080p ones, which means even bigger and even more beautiful screencaptures of this classic Rose performance! Click on the image below to get to the brand spankin’ caps.

If there is one word to describe Rose McGowan and her impressive career thus far, it is this – versatility.

Whether it be the role of a mute con-artist, a psychopathic high school temptress, a very charming witch or even a machine-gun-legged, zombie-slaying heroine, there is no denying the true range and scope of this alluring leading lady…with a velvety, enchanting singing voice to boot!

Breathing life and true dimension into each and every single role she plays, it is a true testament to her talent as a successful actress & artist. We believe her as these different characters, which is what I find so compelling.

I first discovered the enchanting Miss McGowan in Scream. It was at a sleepover party – horror movie night! After the harrowing (and brilliantly crafted) opening to the film, I was completely thrown into the mysterious world of Woodsboro…and introduced to the feisty Tatum Riley. I distinctly remember thinking: “Who is this beautiful girl with the dazzling big brown eyes, and cheeky attitude?!”

In honor of Rose McGowan’s 39th birthday, the gallery has been updated with glorious Blu-ray screencaptures of one of Rose’s more recent movies, Dead Awake. Rose plays Charlie in the Omar Naim directed film, a character who is, in Rose’s own words, “a semi-homeless crackhead who I think is half cracked and half schizophrenic.” A different type of a role for our lady, that is for sure!

Enjoy the screencaps!
