Rose McGowan has been attending the 2011 Turner Classic Movies Festival these past few days in Hollywood. Rose, of course, co-hosted The Essentials in 2008 and is an avid classic film enthusiast. On the opening day of the fest, she attended the screening of An American in Paris. On April 30, she helped honor former Phantoms co-star Peter O’Toole at a hand and footprints ceremony. Miss McGowan looked gorgeous and happy at both events!

Tonight Rose will introduce a screening of A Place in the Sun at the festival. Best of luck, Rose!

As time allows, I will be going through all the recorded episodes of 2008′s The Essentials I have saved and add captures and clips to the site. Unfortunately I don’t have all the episodes recorded and some have quality issues, but I have a good bit to add to the site so at least that is something to look forward to.
For today I have added four clips. Rose discusses A Face in the Crowd, Fanny, Modern Times and Woman of the Year in these. Screencaps are also up for viewing.

According to TV Guide, Alec Baldwin is next to inherit the coveted Essentials spot from actress Rose McGowan. It is presumed Rose’s stint will end at the end of January 2009. (Although we have no confirmation if Rose is appearing in all of these episodes leading up).
By the way, we get e-mails a lot about The Essential’s coverage. I would like to apologize for not having Rose’s episodes up sooner. This is my fault and I’m very sorry as I know you guys wanna see this. As mentioned before I got incredibly busy these past few months, topped with personal & pc problems and was unable to make these kind of updates. I do however have several of Rose’s episodes, atleast 20 I’d say for sure! Unfortunately I couldn’t get some episodes sadly. But I’m working on capping & clipping a few when possible and will update when I can! Possibly some will be up in a few days!
Rose McGowan and Robert Osborne give you The Essentials for July.
The muse of director Robert Rodrguez, Rose McGowan, will take the chair for July as Turner Classic Movies co-host of The Essentials, the network’s signature movie showcase.
Each Saturday at 8 p.m. (ET), McGowan joins TCM host Robert Osborne to introduce “must see” movies with an eye toward helping viewers better understand why these films are important.
Her July picks are:
3:10 to Yuma Saturday, July 5, 8 p.m. (ET)
Although ignored by the Oscars, this classic Western landed a nomination for Best Picture from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
Rose McGowan says of the film: “It’s western noir.”

Here is the clip from last week’s The Essentials. Rose McGowan and Robert Osbourne discuss Paper Moon (1973) from Peter Bogdanovich. Tatum O’Neal won an Oscar at the age of 10 for this. A bit of trivia, Tatum’s role is regarded to be the most substantial role ever nominated as a supporting performance. She is onscreen for nearly all of the film’s running time.
