Rumor has it that Rose McGowan will guest star on an upcoming episode of NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, titled “Bombshell” (season 12, episode 19). The episode is set to air on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. The series stars Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay. Showbiz411 reports:
One of our favorite Charmed actresses is coming to Law & Order: SVU this winter. Rose McGowan, so good in Quentin Tarantino‘s Grindhouse, is filming an episode of SVU this week called “Bombshell.” What we hear is that she’s going to play some kind of sex club worker who tries to de-stablize Det. Elliot Stabler–Chris Meloni. Can’t wait to see this. McGowan is one of Hollywood’s most under-utilized players.
We’ll, of course, keep you updated on Rose’s possible appearance on the show! Lets keep our fingers crossed the rumors are true!
According to Boston.com, The Bell Jar, to be directed by Nicole Kassell (The Woodsman), has some exciting new talent attached to it, including as Lauren Ambrose, Topher Grace and Virginia Madsen. It seems the movie might go into production next year. Here’s to hoping!
Julia Stiles’s long-gestating Bell Jar movie seems to be inching forward. Screenwriter Tristine Skyler reports that director Nicole Kassell and actors Lauren Ambrose, Topher Grace, Rose McGowan, and Virginia Madsen have been attached to the project, as they say in Hollywood. Shooting could start next year. If you’ve forgotten what Julia Stiles looks like, you should be watching Dexter, the greatest show on television.
Plath hasn’t been boffo box office in the past. There was a ghastly 1979 Bell Jar movie, which my late neighbor, Dr. Jane Anderson, successfully sued for defamation. Gwyneth Paltrow played Plath in a generally panned BBC movie, Sylvia. Quoth the irrepressible Daily Mail: “The only good review came from the New Yorker, the literary magazine famous for contributing to Plath’s chronic depression by rejecting most of her work.’’
Rose McGowan announced via Twitter that she will play Mrs. Howell in an upcoming movie adaptation of Gilligan’s Island! The story, based on a 1960s television series, follows a group of tourists who are marooned on an island after their tour boat, the S.S. Minnow, is shipwrecked in a storm. The seven trapped people comprise a colorful group.
Yes! I’m Mrs.Howell “@clydetombaugh: @rosemcgowan I didn’t know! (Almost) belated happy bday2 you.P.S. Is it true about Gilligan’s Island?
Mrs. Howell had all the jewels “@hay1eescomet: so so happy this evening. Rose is gonna be Mrs Howell. Hell YES!”
Update! Rose just posted on her Twitter again and said that she was just joking about Gilligan’s Island. So it seems she won’t be in the movie after all.
Btw- I was joking about playing Mrs. Howell in Gilligan’s Island
Rose McGowan chats with the Blairing Out Show at the 6th Annual Johnny Ramone Tribute about Johnny, The Bride of Frankenstein, Red Sonja, Conan and her current make-up must haves. Rose also mentions that she has several producing gigs in the works! Be sure to check out the interview, it is a good one.
There seems to be a massive amount of rumors around Red Sonja at the moment. Pajiba reports that Nu Image/Millennium Films is changing directions on the film. The company announced in June of 2008 that Rose McGowan would star in the title role and that the film would be directed by Douglas Aarniokoski and produced by Robert Rodriguez.
Then last month, McGowan landed a role in Conan, also from Nu Image/Millennium Films, but not as Red Sonja leading to speculation that she was no longer on board. McGowan instead will play “an evil half-human/half-witch.” In addition to McGowan, Aarniokoski is apparently off the project as well and they are looking for another writer to take a pass at David N. White’s script.
Pajiba also reports that Megan Fox has been offered the role of Red Sonja. However, Megan’s publicist tells Moviefone the report is “not true.”
Rose herself responded the following on her Twitter:
It’s fine. It was Conan or that RT @GossipGuy556677: @rosemcgowan Fans Waited For Her to Be Red Sonja Since 2008. & Now Megan Fox Come and Take the Role!!! thats so UNFAIR!!!
So it seems that Rose is off the Red Sonja project, which is very disappointing as us fans have been following and eagerly awaiting the project for years.
This update shall conclude our coverage of Red Sonja, unless there will be an official announcement in the future, reporting that the film is back in production with Rose McGowan on board.
