"I just finished my first piece for RSA Black Dog, which is Ridley Scott's commercial music video company. I directed a 20-minute short with amazing actors. It was a really amazing project to do, and I felt really comfortable doing it, more so than I ever have acting."

'Dead Awake'
Article written on May 7, 2010 by Riikkae-mail

According to Screen Daily, Arsenal Pictures is headed to the Cannes Film Festival and one of the films that are being marketed to buyers there includes Dyan’s Wake, starring Rose McGowan, Amy Smart and Nick Stahl. Please note that this does not mean that Dyan’s Wake will premiere at Cannes this year, only that it is being shopped around to distributors.

Yarek Danielak’s Arsenal Pictures is Cannes-bound with a new slate led by the supernatural thriller ThePresence from the co-creator of The Blair Witch Project.

Mira Sorvino, Justin Kirk and Shane Black star in the modern-day ghost story a woman who travels to an isolated cabin where she is stalked by an apparition that grows jealous when her boyfriend arrives.

As her behaviour becomes increasingly erratic the question becomes is she battling inner demons or is a greater force at work? The Blair Witch Project co-director Dan Dan Myrick served as executive producer.

The slate includes Memoirs Of A Teenage Amnesiac starring Emma Roberts and Anton Yelchin. Hans Canosa directed the romance based on the cult international beststeller about a young girl who tries to piece together her life after an injury leaves her with no memory.

Dyan’s Wake stars Amy Smart, Rose McGowan and Nick Stahl and centres on a man who fakes his funeral and tries to unravel a supernatural mystery that shattered his life a decade earlier. Omar Naim directed.

'Machete'
Article written on May 5, 2010 by Mycahe-mail

Today in celebration of Cinco De Mayo, Robert Rodriguez has presented a brand new cut of the Machete trailer to AintItCoolNews.com! The trailer which features lots of shots from the original trailer shown with 2007′s Grindhouse but also has tons of brand new star studded scenes with Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Robert Deniro and Michelle Rodriguez! Be sure to check it out, looks like it’s gonna be a blast – I just wish they would get a move on the full length version of Thanksgiving as well!

Rose is not shown in this footage, though. She is playing Cherry Darling again and it’s reported she will be seen in a fake trailer before this movie so we probably won’t see her until Machete is released in September – but hopefully Robert Rodriguez will hear our pleas to see something of Cherry/Rose soon and maybe release a production still or something! Let’s wish!

'Machete'
Article written on April 17, 2010 by Riikkae-mail

20th Century Fox has set a September 3, 2010 release date for Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis’ Machete, starring Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba, Robert De Niro, Michelle Rodriguez, Lindsay Lohan, Cheech Marin, Jeff Fahey, Don Johnson and Steven Seagal. Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 6, which gives the movie a four-day opening weekend.

Machete is based on the “fake” trailer in Robert Rodriguez’s 2007 Grindhouse. The feature version of the trailer finds Machete (Trejo) a renegade former Mexican Federale, roaming the streets of Texas after a shakedown from drug lord Torrez (Seagal). Reluctantly, Machete takes an offer from spin doctor Benz (Fahey) to assassinate McLaughlin (De Niro) a corrupt Senator. Double crossed and on the run Machete braves the odds with the help of Luz (Michelle Rodriguez), a saucy taco slinger, Padre (Marin) his “holy” brother, and April (Lohan) a socialite with a penchant for guns. All while being tracked by Sartana (Alba), a sexy ICE agent with a special interest in the blade slinger.

Rose McGowan has a cameo in one of the faux trailers that accompany the film.

'Red Sonja'
Article written on April 6, 2010 by Riikkae-mail

There seems to be a massive amount of rumors around Red Sonja at the moment. Pajiba reports that Nu Image/Millennium Films is changing directions on the film. The company announced in June of 2008 that Rose McGowan would star in the title role and that the film would be directed by Douglas Aarniokoski and produced by Robert Rodriguez.

Then last month, McGowan landed a role in Conan, also from Nu Image/Millennium Films, but not as Red Sonja leading to speculation that she was no longer on board. McGowan instead will play “an evil half-human/half-witch.” In addition to McGowan, Aarniokoski is apparently off the project as well and they are looking for another writer to take a pass at David N. White’s script.

Pajiba also reports that Megan Fox has been offered the role of Red Sonja. However, Megan’s publicist tells Moviefone the report is “not true.”

Rose herself responded the following on her Twitter:

It’s fine. It was Conan or that RT @GossipGuy556677: @rosemcgowan Fans Waited For Her to Be Red Sonja Since 2008. & Now Megan Fox Come and Take the Role!!! thats so UNFAIR!!!

So it seems that Rose is off the Red Sonja project, which is very disappointing as us fans have been following and eagerly awaiting the project for years.

This update shall conclude our coverage of Red Sonja, unless there will be an official announcement in the future, reporting that the film is back in production with Rose McGowan on board.
