Rose McGowan and her adorable pup Happy are featured in the April/May 2010 issue of Los Angeles Confidential magazine. In the fun article Rose shares her favorite doggie spots in the city. I’ve added some preview scans in the gallery – thanks to blake_6060 – and the article itself can be found in the library. We will surely provide some high quality scans of the magazine in the future. Even though there’s no new pictures of Rose herself, new articles and magazine appearances are simply such a rare treat these days! So… Enjoy this rare Rose treat!
Update: We have been asked to remove the scans by the copyright owner of the photos. You can, however, view the photos of Happy by picking up the new issue of Los Angeles Confidential magazine.
Four film, television and football stars are on a seven-day USO tour led by Navy Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Three-time Emmy winner James Gandolfini, actress Rose McGowan, actor Tony Sirico and New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb are touring as part of an ongoing USO tradition of partnering with senior leaders and working with celebrity entertainers to bring a touch of home to troops stationed abroad. Since they began working in a partnership with the office of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 2000, the USO officials have worked with four chairmen to deploy a dozen entertainment tours.
This trip is the first USO tour for McGowan and Stinchcomb. It’s the second for Gandolfini and Sirico, who starred in the acclaimed HBO series “The Sopranos” and traveled to Kuwait and Iraq in 2004, brightening the day for more than 1,700 U.S. troops.
Rose called it the “honor of her life” as well as saying:
“Having the opportunity to travel on a USO tour with Admiral Mullen and visit our nation’s troops was the opportunity of a lifetime,” said McGowan.
Rose also tweeted this after her trip:
Just home from USO tour.Afghanistan & uwait. Most AMAZING trip of my life. Our Armed Forces & allies are the best people! Can’t wait to return.
Rose did this on her break from filming Conan (which she will return to next week). You can check out several snaps of her on the tour, thanks to everyone at our forum for helping find them and major credit to AU Snap at Flickr. If any of the photos are yours and you’d like proper credit, give us an e-mail and we will fix that! A bit of trivia: Rose’s brother is a captain in the Air Force.

According to Variety, Rose McGowan is joining Marcus Nispel’s (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, 2003), Friday the 13th, 2009) Conan revamp! I am excited Rose is announced to a new project but I already feel this is gonna create some confusion for some people.
She is set to be playing an evil half-human/half-witch in the movie, not Red Sonja, whom we’ve all eagerly been waiting for since we were teased with the Red Sonja imagery back in 2008. Red Sonja first appeared in Conan the Barbarian and while the character will not take part in the new film, it’s kinda cool Rose will somehow get into this Conan-universe. But what does this mean for Red Sonja?
Back in August of 2009, Rose said this:
To clarify press reports: Red Sonja is delayed. I pulled out of doing it in ‘09. Not permanently. Hopefully will follow Conan.
I am still contracted to do it Red Sonja. Hopefully Filming in ‘10 not ‘09
Only time will tell the fate of Sonja. I guess if Conan succeeds at the box office a Red Sonja film (albeit that new character confusion) might be a smart move. But if the film doesn’t, well we just might be hearing the swan song, like we did with Barbarella. It definitely won’t be being released this year and given our run of luck with the stand stilled films these few years, I’d highly doubt filming either – unless by some chance later in the year. But I’m not an expert, just giving my guess. We’ll of course research and let you know if we find out any other details!

After a difficult year, 2009 saw Miss McGowan return back to work. She voiced the Terminator Salvation game, appeared in five episodes of Nip/Tuck and filmed roles for Machete and Dylan’s Wake. She announced a role in The Bell Jar. Rose also appeared in campaigns for Bloomingdale’s and NOH8 and had a cameo in the Anna Faris short film The Multi-Hyphenate.
This compilation of 2009 highlights is by the Rose-McGowan.com staff. Please feel free to post your own choices at the forum.

• Best news:
Riikka says: Rose’s return back to work, without a doubt! I loved her short but memorable stint in Nip/Tuck and am very excited indeed for her two upcoming movies.
Mycah says: I agree with Riikka. It’s so good to see Rose finally getting back to work after some difficult times. Rose guest starring on one of my favorite shows Nip/Tuck probably had me the most excited.
… and both agree: We got the great honor of getting a second Q&A with Ms. McGowan which always is the greatest! And of course, Rose acknowledging the Birthday Project we all worked so hard on. We’re also happy to hear Rose adopted another Boston, which we know are so dear to her heart!
• Worst news:
Both agree: There hasn’t been any bad news, per se, apart from some random gossip.
• Favorite magazine cover:
There wasn’t any covers for Rose in 2009.

Happy New Year 2010, McGowaniacs! How about starting the year by bidding on a pair of Rose’s autographed shoes? The proceeds go for a good cause, 1st Annual Heel Hate Benefit for The Matthew Shepard Foundation.
Rose McGowan Autographed pair of Vero Cuoio red heels in size 36. Both are autographed on the side of the heels. One of the heels has “NOH8!” written on the other side.
The Matthew Shepard Foundation understands that like the Stonewall Riots of 1969, the murder of Matthew stands as a watershed moment in civil rights. During 2010, the Foundation will work in collaboration with the LGBTQ movement and the anti-violence movement to honor this anniversary. Equally important, the Foundation must be strong to withstand the efforts of the religious right to distort history. They are committed to fighting for inclusive hate crimes legislation and they will do what it takes to achieve passage of this milestone human rights legislation.
Bid on the gorgeous shoes over at CharityBuzz.com!

The Rose McGowan Birthday Project 2009 page has been updated with additional information about the Project and the scrapbook that we did for Rose. We are happy to announce that our Birthday Project was a great success! Miss McGowan recently received our gifts and sent us a note thanking everyone who contributed for their efforts.
Here is Rose’s thank you note to all the fans:
I am sooooooo touched. As you know, it’s been a tough year for me and all of your kindnesses have brightened my day.
Thank you all for all of the hard work, the beautiful drawings and the sweet letters; means so much.
Also, it was such a treat to see pictures of you all!
Thank you all for being there.
Much, much love,
We wish to extend our thanks to each and everyone of you who made the Project possible! Thank you! Kisses go out to Brandon for the stunning cover and Ken for all his generous help.
Also, you can now view a couple of shots of the book in the gallery. I tried to not add any photos of personal entries and instead concentrated on showing some of the fan art so you’d still get a peek – without anyone feeling like their private entries were being published. If there’s anyone who does not want their art to be displayed in the gallery, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
A mix of young designers, artists and social types hit the Paperball benefit for New York’s Museum of Art and Design on Wednesday evening, including Rogan Gregory, Chris Benz, Robert Geller, Terence Koh, Fabiola Beracasa, Lorenzo Martone and Peter Davis.
Host, Rose McGowan, was in town from Iowa, where she’s filming a movie, Dylan’s Wake, with Nick Stahl and Amy Smart. “I play a crackhead,” she explained. “It’s really hard core and heartbreaking. And the ugliest clothes ever. So to come here and wear vintage Bill Blass is a nice change.”

Rose McGowan was photographed for the NOH8 Campaign yesterday and one behind the scenes teaser image was already released from the shoot. Below you can find information about this very important cause. Please go and visit NOH8Campaign.com for further details and info on how to join the fight to end discrimination.
On November 4th, 2008, Proposition 8 passed, amending the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.
In the wake of the defeat, there has been a groundswell of initiative from within the community at a grassroots level. Seizing this opportunity, new political and protest organizations are forming almost daily. The NO H8 Campaign is a photo project and silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska (http://www.bouska.net) and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8.
The campaign started with portraits of everyday Californians who support Marriage Equality and soon rose to celebrities, military personnel, brothers and sisters, law enforcement, lesbian mothers, directors, politicians, newlyweds, and more. Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths symbolizing their voices not being heard and “NO H8” painted on one cheek in protest.
