Dawn (2013, short, drama)
Directed by Rose McGowan Starring Tara Barr, Reiley McClendon and Hannah Marks
"I just finished my first piece for RSA Black Dog, which is Ridley Scott's commercial music video company. I directed a 20-minute short with amazing actors. It was a really amazing project to do, and I felt really comfortable doing it, more so than I ever have acting."
According to Hollywood Reporter, Rose McGowan will star in a romantic thriller titled Napa. She will be playing a woman called Scarlett Harding, who after three tours of duty in Afghanistan returns to her hometown, where she is given the job of sheriff.
Writer-producer Michael Kerr is making his feature directorial debut with the project, which is filming in Napa Valley, California. Kerr wrote the script with Hans Ostrom, based on Ostrom’s novel Three to Get Ready, and he is producing with Nellie Nugiel through his Michael Kerr Company. Film Bridge International’s Ellen Wander is serving as executive producer, with Film Bridge handling worldwide sales.
This certainly sounds like an intriguing project and a role unlike any that Rose has played before. Very exciting news! We will certainly keep you posted on all things Napa so stay tuned.
Rose McGowan has clearly been raising her profile this fashion week. In addition to the Tommy Hilfiger after-party and the Preen show, she made it to Donna Karan Monday afternoon. McGowan, who just starred in Conan the Barbarian in a role that had her look “completely insane with prosthetics,” her next role is in a television film called The Pastor’s Wife. “I am playing an invisible woman,” she said. “It’s the hardest part I have ever done.” She was far from invisible at the Donna Karan show, though, wearing a striking red Donna Karan dress replete with matching lipstick. She clearly loves the fashion spectacle. “It’s like running on fumes, but goddamit we all look pretty,” she said.

Rose McGowan is preparing to embark on her second USO tour visiting U.S. troops in Afghanistan. And while the Grindhouse star was a big hit on hertrip last year, she said it has nothing to do with her star power.
“The last time I was in Afghanistan, it was my favorite trip I’ve ever had, and I’ve had some amazing trips in my life. But it’s bizarre to me that it would make anyone happy that I’m there. But I think I represent home. That’s all, it’s not about me,” McGowan told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column at the “Do Something” Awards Show in Los Angeles over the weekend. “They get really sad and forget because they feel like people have forgotten them, so I’m just a representative, a vessel, showing that people are thinking of them.”
McGowan, also a long-standing champion for gay marriage, is urging fellow Americans to keep pushing for the federal legalization of gay marriage ahead of next year’s election.
“It should be across the board. It’s really absurd that it’s not a right and the idea that it takes away from people’s sanctity of marriage, I think we should just watch Jerry Springer and see how those people feel about the sanctity about their marriage,” she continued. “If people rise up, the government follows. You have to put pressure on your local representatives, your city council, then your congressmen, then your senators. You have to understand all this is a phone call away, even an email away, and they really respond to that.”
