“The seam of these pants just ripped a little but it’s not because I’m fat,” Rose McGowan told us about her Max Azria leather pants before his show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
McGowan insisted, “It’s because I was getting dressed in the back of the car on the way over here!”
The actress, who was wearing a Max Azria tunic is an ardent supporter of both the line and the man. She told StyleList: “He makes really elegant and wearable clothes and he’s such a fun and lovely personality, you want to support him.” McGowan, 37, detailed her accessories: “The bracelet is Celine and the shoes are Louboutin and they’re mine.”
Her favorite personal red carpet outfit, she said, was “probably a Dolce & Gabbana custom gown they made for me, it was probably about two years ago at amfAR [The American Foundation for AIDS Reasearch gala in Cannes]. It was a beautiful, hand painted, silk, giant ball gown.”
Rose McGowan has been making the Fashion Week rounds, cracking us up as she goes, and she also had us chortling with her honesty back in December, and so when we ran into her backstage at Max Azria on Sunday, we asked her why she’s been spending so much time in the Big Apple of late. “My boyfriend lives here,” McGowan admitted. Although she’s not quite living here yet, she does spend quite a bit of time going back and forth to L.A. She declined to name her new man, but says he’s not an actor, he’s a private person, and is “privately amazing.” The mystery man works in “finance something something,” is an “amazing art collector,” and is “starting an art fund for underprivileged artists.” “He’s six-foot-six, the tallest one yet,” McGowan said, adding that he was with her at the David Lynch Foundation gala at the Metropolitan Museum, where it seems photographers snapped the unnamed fellow’s photo. Anyone know this guy?

How does Grindhouse star Rose McGowan manage to stay out of the tabloids? By doing her table-dancing out of the country and away from the paparazzi, thank you very much: “The last time I danced on a table I was in Colombia in a drug den with a bunch of crazy arms dealers and drug dealers,” she casually volunteered last night at the Lion, at a party for Brian Atwood’s new shoe line, B Brian Atwood. “I went there to buy some emerald earrings, and that’s where the best ones are.” They’re very pretty, we told her. But please tell us more about the drug dealers.
“I was not aware that they were drug dealers at the time,” she said. “I was going up to them and asking if they were gay and if they’d like to sleep with my male friend. They were not gay, and apparently that’s very frowned upon in that culture. It was about to get me shot. I had a bodyguard. But anyway, I stay out of trouble because I don’t do stuff.” Except stuff like dancing on tables in Colombian drug dens? “Correct,” McGowan told us. “I wasn’t aware that it was a drug den, so I was innocent. I just love dancing. But the thing is, if I danced on a table here, I would be Tara Reid or Lindsay Lohan.”
Things got a little weird at the Change Begins Within benefit on Monday at the Museum of Modern Art, but what do you expect when it’s hosted by the pro-Transcendental Meditation David Lynch Foundation?
One guest who wasn’t exactly buying the Blue Velvet director’s affinity for TM was actress Rose McGowan. “I don’t meditate for sh—,” the hellacious hottie told us on the red carpet, adding that “most of the others” on the rug who would claim they did meditate are “probably lying and drunk.” Perhaps she should at least consider acupressure. When we asked McGowan what she’d do if she gained even a pound in this festive season, she deadpanned: “I would hang myself off the Hollywood sign. What do you think?” We were a little freaked until she said she was kidding.
Amy Smart discusses Rose McGowan in an interview with Dread Central and had the following sweet words to say about our girl:
“She was really fun,” said the actress. “She’s funny and witty and sarcastic, and while we didn’t have that many scenes together in Dead Awake, we definitely spent a lot of time together in Des Moines, and I think she’s really talented. It was the type of character she’s never played before. She’s known as the gorgeous bombshell who can act, and in this film it was so outside of anything she’s played, and I think she did a great job. I know that she was definitely pushed out of her comfort zone, and what’s fun as an actor is to take risks at things that you think you may fail at and to go for it and to grow and to expand.”
