We have received an overwhelming amount of emails regarding the comments Rose McGowan made regarding the IRA at the Toronto International Film Festival. I understand that this is a very sensitive issue and I’d like to remind all of our readers that we are not Rose and are unable to pass on your messages to her. This site is about Rose as an actress and not her political views, and we will not comment on her views as they’re her own. Rose is entitled to her own opinion, even if it differs from yours or mine.
Update: The registration to our forum is currently closed. This is due to insults directed towards the members and staff of the site and not because we wish to censor anyone’s view. We also will not approve any bashing comments on the site. Please keep in mind that a fansite / forum may not be the most suitable area for political discussion – there are better venues to voice your opinion. As we’ve said before, the comments that Rose McGowan made are her own and does not reflect ours. And most importantly, we’re deeply outraged by being accused of IRA propaganda. No one has a right to accuse us or any of the forum members of that.
It seems that I can no longer be a fan of Miss McGowan as I used to be a serving soldier and spent many years in N. Ireland. It’s a great pity as I respect both communities within the province, but I am not that stupid to admire someone who would like to kill me!!! :frown:
You’ve just read a comment that was probably taken out of context. We haven’t heard the whole conversation to know why she said that. We should wait for Rose to say something about this before we start making acusations.
I totally agree with you all girls. Rose has her own opinions, and I simply don’t care about it. I still admire her a lot.
let’s wait for her to clear it up
:frown: Your comments about the terrorist group the IRA are so hurtful to all those people who have sufered at their hands. Since the IRA currently dont exist why dont you go and join some other murdering group of terrorists. Go and do some good in the world instead of mouthing of your sick polictal views.
Oh, for crying out loud, people… To me this seems like another case of a celebrity choosing her words carelessly and the tabloid media exploiting those words to fool their gullible readers. With the risk of stating the obvious here, I very much doubt that what Rose McGowan had in mind when uttering her IRA-sympathizing comment was that she related to every single aspect of the organization’s actions (with which I am now referring to their acts of terrorism). “My heart just broke for the cause,” seem to have been her exact words as quoted by the media — notice the key word here, “cause”. Need I say more? I think not.
On another note, whether you agree with McGowan’s (misinterpreted) statements or not, I do find it downright outrageous that people should feel the need to attack fan site owners in this way. What McGowan has said (or not said) is one thing, but to lash out at people for publicly showing their respect for someone’s professional _career_ is just mindblowingly juvenile (not to mention ill-advised, since fan sites rarely have anything to do with the subject’s political or religious views, for this very reason). Hang in there, girls! This’ll all blow over as quickly as the fuss about Marion Cotillard’s grossly exaggerated WTC-comment.
please dont ended talking about politic we are here for talk about rose mcgowan as an actrees talk about her job and discuss what rol we wish she can play I always support to rose like an actrees but I dont know her I cant think of her personally so please dont judge if we dont know personally to rose. from spain! sorry for my english xD
This is such a difficult subject.. I have always loved Rose, watched Planet Terror yesterday in fact, and am trying not to think about what she said. I live in the UK where the IRA hit many times and killed so many innocent people and I watched on the news.. It was heartbreaking to watch. I find it so hard to know how to react to Rose’s opinion, I don’t think it would stop me being a fan of her work, but it does make me sad that she feels this way :frown: Either way, keep up the great work with the site, it must be very hard suddenly having to deal with this, but that’s celebs for you
THANKS TO ROSE MCGOWEN FOR OPENING THE DOORS TO THE INJUSTICE THAT IS STILL ALIVE IN BELFAST! SHE WAS RIGHT FOR WHAT SHE SAID!!!Rose McGowen made a statement at the TOronto Film Festival that,” if I grew up in Belfast, she would have 100 percent joined the IRA.
”
I don’t think she realized what she said. I do realize her experience here and how angry it made her to see what I have to see. She was living here for a bit filming a movie in Belfast and saw just what I see everyday and she said what many American’s who are Irish feel when they come here.
Well, my father’s family did grow up in Belfast. They didn’t join the IRA but they did live in a civil war zone here and so did myself and my sister when we would come to visit our family here. It was horrible to hear the stories and see the British Army searching people and setting up roadblocks. My family is Catholic. My great-grandmother’s house was burned where she raised my grandmother and her two other children. My great-grandfather coffin was pelted with potatoes with razors stuck in them and thrown as his coffin was driven to the graveyard where only Catholics are buried.Protestand who lived on the Old Park road shouted, “Fenian bastard!” My great-grandfather never hurt anyone.
I have been living in Belfast for 7 months now. These are the murals that are still up in the loyalist areas of Belfast. I live in a Catholic area. It is very hard for me to take it all in but, I admire my father for going to America.
I’m glad Belfast is slowly moving forward but these murals must go!
TIOCFIADH AR LA!!
What she said was 100% RIGHT!!
The IRA fought against the people who were killing innocent Catholics.
