As just reported, Rose was honored at the San Francisco International Film Festival’s Midnight Awards on Saturday and Riikka has uploaded a bunch of photos for our viewing pleasure. Rose looks beautiful in her bronze dress and it’s always so nice to see her out at an events circuit again, don’t you think? Once again many congrats to Miss McGowan for the well deserved award!

A stepping-out kind of crowd, dressed in cocktail party finery, gathered at the W Hotel late Saturday night to honor Rose McGowan and Jason Lee with the San Francisco International Film Festival’s Midnight Awards. At 11:59 and 50 seconds, everybody began to count down to the witching hour. No clock struck 12 but if it had, you wouldn’t have heard it above all the cheering.
Probably because of the hour, the partygoers, like the award recipients, were relatively young and definitely hip. They applauded and yelled through clip rolls. The loudest response was to McGowan’s scene in Grindhouse: Planet Terror, in which she mows down aliens with her machine-gun leg. Another crowd-pleaser was Lee as an egotistical lead singer in a rock band in Almost Famous. He’s become so identified with My Name Is Earl, it was good to be reminded of all the films Lee appeared in pre-Earl.
McGowan wore a mid-thigh-length flowing gown in a dark bronze color that emphasized the redness of her hair. She had dyed it to play Barbarella in a remake, but the film’s financing is shaky. Lee, who’s in the midst of filming his hugely popular TV series, wore Earl’s mustache. His girlfriend, Ceren Alkac, wore her hair in a soft version of a Louise Brooks bob. She was visibly pregnant, and Lee was sweetly attentive to her. McGowan’s fella, Robert Rodriguez, whom she met when he directed her in Planet Terror, was to attend but got waylaid by his next film.

Finally I can bring you clips of the past four episodes of The Essentials! I appologize for the delay. I have been busy, had computer problems, you name it! But nonetheless here they are… most of them atleast. Unfortunately because of my computer problems two episodes did not record fully. (Episode The Great Escape cut off before the film ended so we miss the last discussion, and vice versa for the All About Eve ep). I really am sorry about this! Atleast we can be grateful something recorded from each of these episodes so it’s not too much we missed. Anyways enjoy the clips. Caps and projects pages to come soon.
