Wow, wow, wow! Elle is reporting that Rose McGowan will indeed portray the iconic Barbarella in Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming film! Read on and stay tuned for a more ‘official’ announcement!
This just in from our editors in Milan: A highly reliable source tells Elle.com exclusively that Rose McGowan is slipping into a fur bikini and major bouffant to take on the title role in the remake of Barbarella. Robert Rodriguez, who left his wife after falling for McGowan on the Grindhouse set, is directing and has cast his love in the part made famous by Jane Fonda. While the rumor mill placed everyone from Halle Berry to Kate Beckinsale and Nicole Kidman in the role of Queen of the Galaxy, it seems he’s found the perfect Barbarella in McGowan.
The newly blond Rose partied it up on Friday night until 6am with Domenico and Stefano following their Dolce & Gabanna show. Only a few short hours later, she had to hightail it to the airport for a flight to L.A., presumably to get back to the set. We can’t wait to see her undress in zero gravity as the opening credits roll…
Yay finally some ‘sort’ of official-ness. lol. Hopefully we’ll get a report from Variety or The Hollywood Reporter! OMG!

They said ‘presumably’ to get back to the set in LA, and also Rose does live in LA so maybe she was just going home.
Yeah, I think she was probably going home too.
Can’t believe they’re getting her to play Barbarella, she’ll never measure up to Jane Fonda, She’s too skinny and pale. And she doesn’t have the Naive quality that Fonda had in playing that character. It shouldn’t matter who she’s sleeping with either!
And this film probably won’t measure up to the old one either, its age is part of its charm.
Well, nothing is official yet. So, we’ll wait and see who is going to have the role and what the movie is going to be like. But for the record normally it’s a site for Rose’s fans, not the Official Club of McGowan Haters
